As you are designing your new kitchen, one detail that can be overlooked is the countertop edge. Though it seems like a minor detail, the right edge profile enhances the beauty and functionality of your countertops and can turn a beautiful slab into a gorgeous finished design.

When you are deciding on a counter top edge some considerations are the style of your kitchen, how you use the space, how much maintenance you prefer and if there are safety needs.

Here are seven options to consider for your new kitchen countertops.

1 – The Straight Edge, also known as the eased edge. This option works well with modern, transitional and minimalist designs. It is a popular choice for an edge profile because it offers a simple, clean look. It appears straight, but the top and bottom edges are slightly softened to remove sharp corners.

2 – The Beveled Edge is a clean, angled cut, typically at 45 degrees, along the top edge of the countertop. It adds visual interest without being too ornate. It works well with more modern designs and reflects light to enhance the stone’s natural beauty.

3 – The Bullnose Edge comes in full and half. It is either fully or partially rounded to create a smooth, continuous curve. This is an excellent option for a busy family kitchen with children. It has a soft, classic appearance and is easy to clean.

4 – The Ogee Edge is an elegant S-shaped curve. It is just right for traditional and upscale kitchens and adds detail, sophistication and a custom look. It is ideal for showcasing the beauty of a natural stone and makes a design statement. Many interior designers are leaning into these beautiful curves.

5 – The Waterfall Edge features a smooth curve at the top that transitions into a vertical edge. This creates a soft, but structured look. The edge is smooth, easy to clean and offers a warm, modern aesthetic that is welcoming for everyday use. Waterfall edges can make a beautiful statement in a kitchen.

6 – The Mitered Edge is created by joining two pieces of stone at an angle creating the appearance of a thicker slab. It offers a clean, architectural appearance that is perfect for contemporary kitchens and bold dramatic designs. A mitered edge pairs especially well with natural stones with heavy veining, of which we have many designs to choose from.

7 – The Sculptured Edge also known as the Raw Edge gives the countertop edge a hand-crafted appearance. This pairs beautifully with leathered and honed finishes and with natural stone with movement in the design.
