One of the friendly faces that will greet you at our West Bridgewater showroom is Mike Joyce. Mike is a Sales Account Manager at Boston Granite Exchange where he has worked in our West Bridgewater showroom for nearly 17 years. When you spend any time with Mike you can tell he loves his job and takes seriously the role he and his colleagues have in helping homeowners find the stone for their new kitchen.
Mike grew up in Abington and now lives in Whitman with his wife and two sons and a dog named Sophie. He spent a number of years working for a fabricator installing finished countertops before working in sales for another stone wholesaler. He honed his knowledge and skills there for almost a decade. But his dream job was still waiting for him.
Why Boston Granite Exchange?
Mike had known about Boston Granite Exchange for many years, watching their growth and looking for an opportunity to join their team. He had met the owners and even installed one of their kitchens! In 2010, he heard that BGE was hiring. Mike sent in his resume and went through the interview process and was hired to join the BGE team.
When asked, “Why BGE?” Mike answers, “They’re sharp. No one approaches the business quite like they do. They started as local guys who saw an opportunity and went for it. They are good guys and I look up to them. Many of the things they were doing years ago have now been adopted by other stone wholesalers.”
The West Bridgewater Showroom
The West Bridgewater showroom is purposefully designed to offer a visitor a pleasant experience. The wide aisles allow visitors, including homeowners, to walk up and down, take a good look, and step back to really see the beauty of each stone.
“We focus on making the showroom experience friendly,” says Mike. “There aren’t many places that focus on the experience the way we do. When you walk through the door, you have our attention,” he says.
“When someone visits our showroom, we greet them and ask them to sign in,” Mike continues. We also try, in that initial interaction, to get a sense of what they are looking for. How we assist homeowners depends on what they want. If they are just looking to get some initial ideas and want to walk through the showroom on their own, we are open to that, but if they have an idea of what they want (color, type of stone, etc.) and would like guidance, we are ready to assist. If they bring samples of other elements of their kitchen (e.g., flooring, cabinets, backsplash.), we can also guide them to stones that will look great with them. We’re happy to take a visitor through the entire showroom,” Mike says enthusiastically.

Mike continues, “We are committed to listen intently to each visitor to help them find the stone that will pull their kitchen together. Our years of experience allow us to hear their ideas and see their samples and fairly quickly narrow down stones they will be happy with for their kitchen. This is a personal (and infrequent) purchase and we want them to love their selection for many years,” Mike says.

When asked what makes the West Bridgewater Showroom stand out from other showrooms south of Boston, Mike says, “There’s lots of competition, but in other showrooms you aren’t going to get the personal touch and professionalism that goes with the years of experience we have at Boston Granite Exchange in West Bridgewater. “We know stones, it is in our DNA.”
When he’s not sharing his expertise about natural stones and quartz, Mike’s spare time for the past couple of decades has been dominated by coaching and cheering on his sons in their sports endeavors. As he and his wife are about to face an empty nest, they look forward to spending more time together as a couple, as well as spending time with friends and cheering on the Patriots.
