Once again this year, Boston Granite Exchange was represented in Las Vegas at the annual Kitchen and Bath Industry Show (KBIS). John Byrne, VP of Sales, and Bill Thomas, General Manager, headed west to connect with suppliers and designers from across the US and around the globe. Taking part in this annual conference allows us to find out what’s new and trending in the world of kitchen and bath design and to meet with our suppliers, many of whom travel to KBIS from overseas.

Here are our takeaways from this year’s show:

Colors are Still Shifting

The shift away from monochromatic kitchens in white or grey continues. Earth tones are emerging as the latest color trend. We’re not talking about the earth tones of the 1970s, the earth tones for 2024 are warm and elegant; colors like warm sand, clay grey and hot chocolate are appearing. These tones, along with blues and greens, are bringing a new color palette into our homes. Last year, blues and greens were prominent. This continues in 2024, but this year the shades of blue and green – like deep sea blue and moss green – are more earthy and inspired by nature.

Porcelain is Definitely a Thing

While we have been talking about the advantages of porcelain for a while now, it was clear this year at KBIS that porcelain is increasing in popularity and acceptance. Laminam porcelain, of which we are the exclusive distributor in New England, had a strong presence with a beautiful booth at KBIS. As awareness continues to increase for this high-quality surface, designers and kitchen and bath dealers are showcasing Laminam in their showrooms and more homeowners are discovering its beauty and incorporating it into their homes.

Quartz Remains Hugely Popular

Quartz has secured its place in homeowners’ hearts for kitchens, bathrooms and more. As technology improves, quartz manufacturers are experimenting with ways to improve the surface. Attending KBIS each year allows us to learn about these innovations, see the designs in person and evaluate if the products meet our high quality standards.  And when a superior product emerges, we’re at the cutting edge bringing it to our showrooms for you to see.

We had another great trip to KBIS this year and we will keep you posted on trends and new surfaces and colors that we bring to our showrooms.

Come visit one of our showrooms in Haverhill, MA or West Bridgewater, MA to see the latest designs and colors in natural stone, quartz and porcelain surfaces for your home. Appointments are not necessary.
