The calendar still says summer, but these cool September nights have us thinking about getting the fireplace going. As the nights get cooler, we naturally turn our attention to our living spaces and think about what needs attention to bring us joy as more time is spent indoors.
If you are feeling the same way, perhaps now is the time to consider a stone fireplace surround. It can make your old fireplace seem new. You can change up the whole room with your choices for a surround.
Depending on your style, you can opt for a few different looks. Here are some of the current trends to update fireplaces.
- Define the Room
You can go floor to ceiling with a stone slab for a dramatic floor to ceiling look that is the centerpiece of your room. This will elevate your living space with a fireplace that draws the eye to it. You can opt for a bookmatched stone which will give you a high-impact and luxurious look for your home.
Or you can be dramatic with color choices, imagine a beautiful Italian marble like Calacatta Bluette Light paired with contrasting walls and accents in your room, again, drawing the eye to the fireplace as the focus of your space. - Complement the Room
A minimalist look emphasizes simpler, clean lines and sleek profiles. Think of frameless glass and a horizontal, low-profile surround, perhaps in marble or porcelain. This does the opposite of the dramatic look; it elevates the beauty of your fireplace but allows it to be a backdrop for entertaining or quiet nights by the fire. - Bring in Texture
Using a mix of materials and textures you can create something uniquely your own. For example a natural stone surround in a stone like leathered Taj Mahal quartzite with a reclaimed wood mantelpiece brings beauty and understated interest into your room.
Whatever your style, if your fireplace needs a refresh we invite you to plan a visit to one of our showrooms in West Bridgewater or Haverhill, MA to see the many stones we have to offer. We receive shipments weekly and have new designs arriving regularly so there is always something new to see in our showrooms.
We look forward to seeing you.
