The Top Design Trend for 2026
In our last blog, we shared five of the top trends we’re seeing for 2026. Now, we’d like to share the number one trend we’re seeing … drum roll, please … solid slab backsplashes.
A solid slab backsplash brings the stone used for the countertop up the wall as the backsplash. This look offers a visually cohesive kitchen design; you are creating a seamless look and blurring the line between form and function. It feels luxurious and artistic.
While this is not a new concept, (we’ve written about this before), it is the top kitchen design trend forecast for 2026. Interior designers and homeowners alike, are loving the clean lines and elegant look of the countertop that continues up the wall. Some interior designers also use the same stone on the range hood for a uniform look.
From a practical standpoint, slab backsplashes also require less upkeep —there are no grout lines to keep clean and you care for your backsplash the same way you care for your countertops. Additionally, the fabricator who installs your countertops is most likely going to install the slab backsplash, reducing the number of steps to completing your kitchen.
