Recently, our VP of Sales, John Byrne, and General Manager, Bill Thomas, travelled to the annual Kitchen and Bath Industry Show (KBIS) held this year in Las Vegas.
This annual conference brings the industry together to see what is new, what is trending and what is not. It is an opportunity for Boston Granite Exchange to take the pulse of our suppliers, as well as the kitchen and bath design world, to find out what they are seeing and liking across the industry.

This is also an opportunity for BGE to connect with folks we only see once a year who travel to KBIS from around the country and around the world. It’s also a chance for John & Bill to enjoy a favorite, jamon Iberico, ham brought over from Spain each year by the good people from Cambria. It’s a big attraction, and we look forward to Cambria’s ham every year!
After the pandemic caused lower attendance in the last couple of years, it was great to see that the 2023 show was so well attended. There were two big takeaways for Bill and John:
- Porcelain – Porcelain was prominent. While established brands are now offering porcelain, Bill and John are confident that Laminam porcelain continues to be best porcelain on the market.
- Color – As we have been sharing, homeowners are definitely moving away from all-white and all-grey kitchens, and the trends displayed at KBIS were consistent with the shift. Blues, greens and golds are appearing in countertop surfaces, backsplashes, cabinets and walls. For those who still love white and grey, the new addition is gold. Gold veining in white or grey countertop surfaces is adding beauty, and gold hardware and gold fixtures and faucets are adding pop.
While Vegas is not our thing, the KBIS event is always great. Our inventory offers you tremendous choices in classic stones and trending colors including gold veining and blues and greens. From the best porcelain to beautiful quartz and natural stones, Boston Granite Exchange is your source for beautiful surfaces for your home.
We’re glad to be back in beautiful New England and look forward to seeing you. If you are planning a home renovation project, we invite you to visit one of our showrooms to see what’s new for 2023.
