In our last blog, we highlighted kitchen trends for 2024 including big islands, many shades of green, some new appliance technology and the resurgence of natural wood tones. Read Part I.

If you are planning a new kitchen in 2024, here are some more trends for your consideration:

Slab Backsplashes

A slab backsplash uses a continuous slab for the backsplash, often in the same stone as the countertop. This creates a striking focal point for the room. The other big selling point for homeowners is that choosing a slab backsplash means it has no grout lines, making it easy to clean.

Gold

Gold has been trending in a couple of areas of the kitchen. The first place is, of course, in fixtures: gold faucets, hardware and lighting fixtures have increased in popularity. The other place where gold is gaining popularity is in countertops. Whether in natural stone, quartz or porcelain, kitchen countertop surfaces with gold veining and gold tones are adding color and interest to kitchens as gold has its time to shine.

Sinks

To go with those gold faucets, the workstation sink with its numerous optional accessories like cutting boards strainers and drying rack is the sink of choice – it increases in popularity year after year.

Statement Range Hoods

Using stone cladding to cover range hoods is becoming more popular. It makes the hood a focal point in the room and pulls the beauty of your countertop center stage on the range hood. This works particularly well with granite, quartzite, porcelain and quartz.

Simplicity

Simplicity and warmth are the watchwords for kitchen design in 2024. This includes plain or shaker-style cabinets, clean lines and a minimalist approach to decorating your kitchen. Bringing in greens and blues along with wood tones will achieve the warmth you want while the uniformity of a matched slab backsplash and countertop will achieve a dramatic look without taking away from the simplicity.
